I hope Darrel Keath is correct, that ACA will save us $716
billion: “Obama care is working especially for seniors,” Yuma Sun October 3, 2014. I am afraid, however, that when the
employer mandate kicks in on January 1, the excrement will hit the fan. The consequences of Government’s
colluding with business are invariably ugly. The insurance companies are grinning
ear to ear, but the working man is in for a rude awakening. I hope I am wrong.
Mr. Keath’s crediting Obama with
having cut the deficit in half, however, is grossly misleading. Bush deficits were grotesque, but they
pale when compared to Obama’s. Bush’s
highest deficit was $458 trillion. During
his first four years in office, Obama’s deficits were all well over $1 trillion
a year, more than twice as high as Bush’s. Last year he did cut his deficit in
half, to $648 billion, but it’s still $2 billion than Bush highest.
I recognize that most of the
$1.40 trillion 2009 budget can be chalked up to Bush’s credit; but Obama did
pass a $787 billion stimulus package in February of that year.
We who
live in the “tea party bubble” are not at all worried about how ACA will affect
us, but we are gravely concerned about the debt we are leaving our
grandchildren.
